Rudgwick Pre-school Safeguarding Statement
Safeguarding children is a shared responsibility. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2026) states that everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play in promoting their welfare and protecting them from harm.
Keeping Children Safe in Education (2026) defines safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children as:
- protecting children from maltreatment
- preventing impairment of children’s health or development
- ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with safe and effective care
- taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes
Our Commitment
At Rudgwick Pre-school, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care. We expect every member of staff and all volunteers to share this commitment.
We ensure that:
- all staff receive appropriate training, guidance, and ongoing support in recognising and responding to concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing
- safeguarding is embedded in our daily practice and underpinned by clear policies and procedures
- our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is available to parents and carers via the Policies section of our website
We recognise that, at times, it may be necessary to share information with external agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. Wherever possible, we will discuss these concerns with parents or carers first, unless doing so would place the child at greater risk.
We actively support the Government’s Prevent Duty and are committed to protecting children from the risks of radicalisation and extremism.
