Rudgwick Pre-school Safeguarding Statement

Introduction

The Government paper ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’ (2015) states that ‘Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play’.

“Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is defined for the purposes of this guidance as: protecting children from maltreatment; preventing impairment of children’s health or development; ensuring that children grow up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care; and taking action to enable all children to have the best outcomes.”  Keeping Children Safe in Education 2016

Statement

At Rudgwick Pre-school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We provide all staff with training and guidance to follow when they suspect a child may be experiencing abuse or is at risk of harm, we believe that it is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the Policies section of our website.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child's welfare.

We actively support the Government's Prevent Agenda to counter radicalism and extremism.

Our Child Protection Lead (CPL) is Claire Brown. Our Deputy CPL and Prevent lead is Clare Barnett.
